Light Box Experiment

Students get to take a look at Reflection as they make observations of a light box experiment.  This great interactive shows how light behaves when a mirror is placed in its path at different angles.

The Secret Lives of Flowers

Dramatic photos, conceptually clear, & cleverly designed is this interactive called The Secret Lives of Flowers. Don’t miss each of the aspects; 1 – The Garden Exposed (incredible pictures), 2 – Love Me, Love Me Not (male and female parts of the flower), 3 – A View of Attraction ( how pollinators see the garden), 4 – Gone to Seed, and 5 – Secrets Revealed. The amazing Exploratorium brings us another work of science and art.

Cassiopia A

Telescopes are engineered to detect a specific range of wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation. Images from a variety of these telescopes show different aspects of the same astronomical objects. This learning tool is a great way for students to explore and be introduced to electromagnetic radiation!

Life Science

This unit outlines video, interactive, and document resources to teach Life Science for Grade 4, targeted to address concepts outlined in the Next Generation Science Standards. Using multiple resources from the hit KIDS series Wild Kratts, as well as content drawn from SciGirls and IdahoPTV, this catered unit is perfect for bringing exciting, engaging media into fourth grade science classrooms.

  • An object can be seen when light reflected from its surface enters the eyes. (4-PS4-2)
  • Plants and animals have both internal and external structures that serve various functions in growth, survival, behavior, and reproduction. (4-LS1-1)
  • Different sense receptors are specialized for particular kinds of information, which may be then processed by the animal’s brain. Animals are able to use their perceptions and memories to guide their actions. (4-LS1-2)

About NGSS
